TOGETHER IN MINISTRY "2.O"
Additional Grant Money Released for Clergy Peer Groups
Rev. Dr. Darla Turlington, President
For several years, the Ministers Council has been conducting retreat/training programs on Clergy Health and Sustaining Ministry under the "7 R's of Sanctuary" theme. Rev. Dr. Debora Jackson designed and executed these programs and obtained grants from Christian Theological Seminary, where the Center for Pastoral Excellence is housed.
Dr. Jackson has brought the program to closure, with more than $40,000 remaining from the grants. In February, your national Board identified a major program focus for 2018 and beyond would be strengthening, renewing and expanding the clergy colleague group model we began through previous Lilly Foundation grants.
We rejoice! The Board of Governors has been given permission to re-purpose these monies for clergy peer support groups.
Watch for details soon. Our planning team is compiling a list of active clergy peer groups meeting regularly. If you are currently involved in a clergy peer group, please contact Rev. Dan Hopkins at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We give thanks to our Lord, to CTS, to Dr. Jackson and to the unnamed donors committed to pastoral excellence for giving Ministers Council ABCUSA this opportunity.
